Ginninderra Athletics Update: 20 August 2025

Ginninderra Athletics - Ginninderry

Dear Ginninderra Athletics Community,

The committee is busy preparing for the new season. Come and Try Day will be held on Sunday 13th September at 2-3pm. More details to follow.

Thank you Ginninderry for the new timing computers

We were given a very generous grant of $3000 from Ginninderry during the previous financial year. We used the grant to purchase 4 new laptops to replace our aging laptops. This should greatly improve the reliability of our system and allow us to adopt the latest version of Race HQ.

We also hope to have our automatic starts working again for the new season.

New season registration and start date

Our first Ginninderra meet for the season will be Saturday 18th October. The draft season calendar is up on the website www.ginninderraathletics.com.au.

We hope to have registrations up and running by the end of August. We will let everyone know via email, website, social media and new core flute signs when it is up and running.

Website revamp

Thanks to Steve Dodt for the new look website. We are hoping to be able to keep the website up to date and make it the go to place for all club information. We will also continue post to Facebook and Instagram, as well as weekly newsletters during the peak season.

More committee/ volunteer support needed

We have a fantastic committee this season with all executive positions filled. However, we do need support in some areas. Please email ginninderraathletics.president@gmail.com if you can assist with any of these roles or have any questions.

  • Canteen– We are looking for someone to coordinate purchasing. Our previous canteen manger is looking to take a step back after 4 seasons. They are still happy to assist on Saturday mornings at the shed.
  • First Aid– Please reach out if you are able to support. We need a qualified first aider on duty each Saturday morning at our club meets. Please email if you can assist, either to be available most weeks, or sign up for a first aid roster. It is possible to follow your children unless needed. You can carry the kit and be available on a mobile phone if required.
  • Tiny tots– Unfortunately, the Tiny Tots coordinator that we had lined up is unable to commit to the season. They are happy to attend the first few sessions of the year to train up a new coordinator, or several leaders who can rotate or be on a roster. They have also offered to write session plans for the season. Please email if you can help. This is a high priority.

Coaching

Steve Dodt is the club coaching coordinator this season. If you are keen to support with club coaching, please mail Steve on stevedodt@gmail.com. We can also provide support for aspiring coaches to attend courses in return for contributing to club coaching. Gary will continue to coach Thursday afternoon sessions throughout the upcoming season. Steve will also support junior coaches to improve their coaching. We will provide more information about Junior Coaches and how to apply in the coming weeks.
