Ginninderra Athletics Update: 7 September 2025

Ginninderra Athletics

Dear Ginninderra Athletics Community,

2025/26 Registrations are open

Registrations are now open at www.revolutionise.com.au/gac

Ginninderra Families, please share with your networks.

Season starts Saturday 18th October.

Details: Season Meets- 8.45am start- Tiny Tots, U6 to U9 and Junior Coaches. 10am- U10 and up.

Why choose Ginninderra? We have two start times to make the program run smoothly, with little to no wait times at events. We have junior coaches to support the Tiny Tots to U9 age groups. The junior coaches are great role models/ mentors for young athletes. The junior coaches (u14 and up) gain fantastic leadership skills through mentoring the younger athletes. We are a full-service club, meaning athletes from Tiny tots to Masters can compete with the one club. Athletes in U11 and up can represent Ginninderra at Capital athletics meets throughout the year. There are also special events for younger athletes.

The emphasis is on fun and fitness, not just who wins. We celebrate effort and team work through our weekly Good Sports Awards sponsored by Dominos and Subway Charnwood.

That being said, some of the ACT’s best athletes are proud Ginninderra members.

We also run free weekly coaching sessions for members throughout the season.

We also cater for Community Athletes on Saturday morning- 18+ with emphasis participation and fun.

Come and Try Day Sunday 14th September at Charnwood Playing Fields

Still not sure, sign up for our Come and Try Day on Sunday 14th September from 2-3pm.

Opportunities to contribute to our club in the upcoming season

🐯 Pitch: Become a Tiny Tigers Play Coach! 🐯- Aka Tiny tots Coordinator

Saturday mornings at Ginninderra are full of energy – but the real magic happens with our youngest athletes, the Tiny Tigers (3–4 years old).

The Tiny Tigers Play Coach role is one of the most rewarding things you can do:

✨ You create the fun. The kids run, jump, throw, and play on the grass with laughter and smiles – and you’re the one who helps make that happen.

✨ You won’t do it alone. The club will write the program and provide junior coaches to keep the vibe high and the stress low.

✨ You can share the role. Bring a friend and co-coach, or ease into it yourself as you learn – either way, we’ve got your back.

✨ You’ll love the vibe. Saturday mornings start with joy, laughter, and the pure excitement of kids discovering sport for the very first time.

This is the most fun job in the club – and without a Play Coach, the Tiny Tigers can’t roar to life.

If you love the idea of giving our youngest athletes their first taste of athletics, we’d love to hear from you. Step up, share the smiles, and help our Tiny Tigers shine this season.

👉 Please email ginninderrathletics.president@gmail.com if you are keen or have any questions about the role.

Canteen Leader/ Manager

The Canteen/ BBQ at Ginninderra Athletics meets has a long tradition of bringing families together, raising much needed funds, and bringing a great vibe to our meets.

To see this tradition continue, the club is seeking a person or team to lead the purchasing for the upcoming season and help to coordinate and train volunteers. The outgoing manger is still happy to assist on Saturdays but would like to step back from the purchasing side of the role. The club is definitely open to opening an account to make purchasing easier.

👉 Please email ginninderrathletics.president@gmail.com if you are keen or have any questions about the role.

Junior Coaches

Hey athletes going into U14 and older age groups👋

Remember how much fun it was starting out in Little Athletics? Now’s your chance to be the one who brings that energy to the next generation!

As a Junior Coach you’ll:

✨ Help our Tiny Tigers (3–4 years) and Under 6–9s run, jump, throw, and smile their way through athletics.

✨ Get a free Junior Coach T-shirt (yep, you’ll look legit).

✨ Be part of an awesome team with mentoring from experienced coaches to help you grow.

✨ Build leadership skills and get something impressive to put on your first CV or uni application.

✨ Earn $10 + $5 canteen voucher each week (snacks sorted 🍫).

✨ Do it all at your home ground, on the grass, stress-free.

Your role? Keep the vibe high, help kids feel connected, and pass on the love of the sport. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

This is one of the most important traditions in our club – and now it’s your turn. Many of you had your own Junior Coach back in the day… why not become one yourself?

👉 email ginninderrathletics.president@gmail.com to register interest. Training starts soon, season kicks off in October.

Junior Coach Leader

If you’ve ever been a Junior Coach at Ginninderra Athletics, you know what it’s all about:

• Saturday mornings full of laughter and energy

• Being the role model kids looked up to

• Growing your own confidence and leadership skills while giving back

Now we’d love for you to step back into that space – this time as a mentor to the next generation of Junior Coaches.

✨ Share your experience and tips with new Junior Coaches aged 14–17.

✨ Be the role model, not just for the little athletes but for the young leaders coming through.

✨ Help keep one of the most important traditions in our club alive – the Junior Coach program.

The vibe is fun, flexible, and stress-free. It’s about building connections, keeping the smiles flowing, and showing the next cohort how rewarding it is to lead.

You’ve done it before. You know how much it means. Now’s the time to pass the baton and inspire the next generation.

👉 If you’re keen to mentor or co-lead the Junior Coach program this season, we’d love to hear from you at ginninderraathletics.president@gmail.com

Opportunities for parents to assist with coaching

👟 Share Your Talent, Support Our Tigers

If you’ve got a child at Ginninderra Athletics, you already know how special Saturday mornings are. But did you know there’s a way you can be part of the action too?

We’re inviting parents to lend their skills, experience, or energy — in whatever way fits their life — to help our young athletes grow.

✨ Model your athletic talents – past or present – by demonstrating, guiding, or simply sharing what you know.

✨ Learn as you go – our experienced club coaches will give you tools, confidence, and support in communication and technique.

✨ Make an impact – whether it’s helping your own child or a whole group, every moment you share helps the next generation.

✨ Flexible, no big commitment – step in on Saturday mornings, during the week, or when it suits. Your presence matters more than your availability.

✨ Grow with us – start small and see where it leads. Many of our long-term coaches began exactly this way.

This isn’t about rushing into a coaching role. It’s about being present, supporting your child and their friends, and enjoying the reward of guiding young athletes in a fun, grassroots environment.

Every conversation, every high-five, every “well done!” helps us build a stronger club. And you’ll discover that you get just as much out of it as the kids do.

👉 If you’d like to know more or just want to try lending a hand once or twice, we’d love to connect with you.

The club is also keen to support coaches who want to take their coaching to the next level to attend courses.

Email ginninderrathletics.president@gmail.com if you are keen or have any questions.

We are really looking forward to a great season.

Cheers Gary- GAC President
